CHAPTER ONE
~ Twiddle Dum Birds and Mutant Cheese ~

...A royal heir...
Normally slim and watchful of her figure, the Queen was with child and the King would do anything to please her. He ordered the kitchens to work around the clock to tempt her. One of the mutant cheeses was the color of puce (that means brownish-purple, NOT green!), and tasted like a delicate asparagus souffle... the Queen couldn't get enough! Nothing was beyond the imagination of the cook: cheese-filled ravioli, cheesecakes, and cheese-stuffed sausages - even cheese milk shakes! So... the Queen grew and grew!
...Then...
In the wee hours of a hot July morning... following a feast of garlic and peppered cheese-stuffed sausages topped with a creamy puce sauce, the Queen was in such a state of contentment that her excitement began to build! She rounded up the household staff and set them on a furious pace of cleaning, until every castle window sparkled in the sun and the cool marble floors gleamed. With one hand at her back, the Queen gently rearranged the bedding in the tiny golden cradle, fluffing up the satin pillow that she'd made with her own two hands and lovingly filled with lavender, so that her baby would have the sweetest of dreams. Finally all was in readiness... and her labors began.
...Nervously...
The King strode the halls playing soldiers with the royal army, while maidens rushed to and fro (that means back and forth!), tripping soldiers left and right! The entire kingdom held its breath as the hours slowly passed by.
...Suddenly...
The bells in the castle tower began to ring... there was a new heir to the throne, a child of the King! Messengers were sent to every corner of the realm proclaiming the birth of the Princess Pashzmeenie. And there was feasting in the land...
~ But deep within the royal chambers
was a secret to be hid ~
