CHAPTER FIVE
~ Snail Slime and Mud Daubber Nests ~
***
...In The Great Library...
Books were piled on tables and stacked on chairs. Pashzmeenie carefully wove her way through the maze, past literary mountains that sometimes crashed and fell. In the distance, billowing clouds of dust and loud sneezing Kerchoos showed her where the Professor was... indeed where he had been all through the night... searching ancient scrolls and books to find a cure for his friend.
...A beginning...
As Pashzmeenie approached, she could hear the Professor mumbling strange things... "Whale Snot... sticky, might be too acidic. Grasshopper Goo... it's yellowish, but the goo might do it. Pin Tar... hmmm... that's pretty sticky; it just might work. Snail Slime... a very good prospect there. Mud... hmmm... well, the best mud would probably be from the Mud Daubber Nests because it mixes the sticky saliva with the mud... but a bit tricky to get... have to develop some sort of a plan for that. Aloe Vera Fluid... Yes... that has healing properties, very good for the skin... we'll try that first!"
...A plan...
They began right away, devoting the morning to creating new concoctions to banish the brownish purple bumps, each topped by a giant yellow split end. It became an intense kind of science class, involving graphs, charts, and papers of scientific research. They wrote down their plan, gathered the necessary ingredients, and soon they had created the first sample for testing: an Aloe Vera Jelly.
...Facing the problem...
As the Professor gently dabbed little mounds of jellied Aloe Vera onto the bumps on the Princess's face, (the friends having decided that before going to bed at night, the Princess would cover the rest of the bumps herself... as much as she could) Pashzmeenie asked about the things that she had worried over through the night.
...Questions...
"Professor... it IS true that GOD made everyone, right?"
"Yes, my child. The Bible, which is the WORD of GOD given to us by Him in written form so that we can know about Him, says that on the sixth day of creation, GOD made man in His own image. This we find in
Genesis 1:26-31."
"So... if everyone looks like GOD, then why am I different? Did He make a mistake when He made me?" asked Pashzmeenie.
"No! GOD did NOT make a mistake!
Psalms 18:30a
says, 'As for GOD, His way is perfect...' So you see, He CANNOT make a mistake! And Titus 1:2 tells us that GOD CANNOT lie!" exclaimed the Professor. "So we know that His words are true! Psalm 139:14 says, 'I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.'"
"Then... why, Professor? You know that the beauty of my family is known throughout the whole world. Is GOD mad at me?" asked Pashzmeenie.
"No, my child," replied the Professor. "GOD has a special love for all children. He loves them so much that in Matthew 18:10 He gives a warning to anyone who would hurt them. In Jesus own words He says, 'Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, that in Heaven their angels do always behold the face of my FATHER which is in Heaven.'
In fact, at the beginning of Chapter 18, Jesus tells His followers that unless they are like little children, they cannot enter into the kingdom of Heaven."
As he spoke the words, the Professor became very excited, waving his arms all about as he paced to and fro. "Who knows, Pashzmeenie... perhaps as in the time of Queen Esther... as it says in the Book of
Esther, Chapter 4, Verse 14b: 'and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?' Pashzmeenie! Do you understand the great opportunity that GOD has given to you?" asked the Professor.
This was something she had never considered. The silence grew as Pashzmeenie thought this over. Finally she asked the question whose answer would change the course of her life... and that of her entire kingdom.
